I have been a Pilates Instructor for twelve years and my favorite Pilates exercise tool, that isn’t a large piece of equipment, is the Pilates ring. Originally called the Magic Circle by Joseph Pilates, there is something magical about this simple yet effective resistance workout tool. The Pilates ring enables the user to gain resistance deep within a muscle group making workouts more intense. The squeezing action isolates certain muscle groups and activates their functionality. The ring can be used to tone and strengthen arms, chest, legs and torso by repeatedly contracting and releasing the muscles.

The inner thighs, or adductors, are an easy demonstration of the power of a Magic Circle. Imagine lying on your back with your knees bent and feet placed on the floor. With the ring between your knees, gradually squeeze the ring like you’re squeezing a lemon. You’ll tone and work the inner thigh muscles easier and faster than on a gym machine. One of the best advantages of a Pilates ring is the convenience and cost. At 12-14 inches in diameter, a ring is easy to tote along. The pricing is easy too. Ranging in price from approximately $20 - $50, a Magic Circle is definitely affordable.

So if you’re looking for a great home-use toning tool that is fun and different and most of all effective, then try a Pilates Ring and squeeze your way into shape.
